Rev. Lorenzo Lorraine Langstroth (December 25, 1810 - October 6, 1895) was an American apiarist, clergyman and teacher, considered to be the father of American beekeeping

"This journal was restored and rebound in 1959 by Anne A. Weeks of Ithaca, New York. The pages were retained in exactly the same order as prepared by the Rev. L.L. Langstroth, but a number of blank pages at the end of the journal were removed in order to reduce to bulk of the volume"--Preliminary page
